Who am I?? An artist living my dream.
Have you ever thought about having that special place to retreat too, away from the world-your place to just ‘create’? And breath! I have chosen to ‘create’ a whole new lifestyle for myself. Many have asked if I am a little bit crazy to be living on mountain (10,000 ft elevation) in Colorado in a VERY primitive manner. None of the ‘modern’ amenities here. Crazy? Yes sometimes it would seems so, but the beauty and serenity that overcomes me as the sun rises over the peaks to the east or sets with a flame after a full day to the west can not be replaced. When I am setting on the porch of our cabin, drinking tea , hearing the lowing of the cattle, and watch the Elk and Big horn sheep move slowly along the ridge I can not help but be inspired to bring that beauty to the rest of the world. I try to do that with my art.
The pace of my life has settled, I have eliminated the items and requirements that kept me on that treadmill-going faster and faster until you feel that you will fly off into oblivion. Not that the very act of survival when you live on a mountain top doesn’t have it stresses. Is the propane and wood stocked and ready for the first snow (and the many feet to follow!!) Is the water cistern full and running? Have you seen the animals today-are the horses safe out in the hills? All questions to ask every day.
But the most important question to ask yourself at the end of the day….am I happy, content and fulfilled by my life? Have I contributed to the beauty of the world surrounding me? I can answer a resounding yes!! I hope to hear that you can too.
